About Us

our story

The Computational Research Access NEtwork (CRANE) team is comprised of computational physicists and chemists from across the nation who were brought together by a collective passion for teaching and mentorship. Their expertise spans a diverse range of topics, from modeling molecular dynamics to understanding fluid flow in astrophysical plasmas. Although the seminar was initially conceived as a training program for undergraduate researchers in plasma physics, the teaching team has expanded the curriculum to cover computational methods used in their own fields of expertise, namely condensed matter physics and physical chemistry.

Our guests are women and LGBTQ+ scientists, primarily BIPOC scientists, working in plasma physics and related fields. You’ll have an opportunity to network and hear their experiences working at universities, national labs, and private industry. Find out how they started doing scientific research and what their career path is like. BIPOC students are especially encouraged to join us!
